Frequently Asked Questions

What is a vacation home rental?
Vacation rental homes are a growing lodging option for travelers in the Orlando area and across the world. Representing a wonderful value for families and groups, The Florida Store Vacation Homes allow travelers visiting the destination to stay under one roof while providing considerably more space and, in many instances, amenities not found in one’s own home.

Is it like a timeshare? Is any ownership involved?
Orlando vacation homes are not like timeshares, as they don’t involve any type of ownership, maintenance fees, or commitments of any sort. Each home is owned by a family who make their home available to rent. Travelers can simply rent a Florida Store Vacation Home for their getaway, much like a traditional hotel’s reservation and check-in process.

Why would I stay in a vacation home during my next trip to Orlando?
Many guests choose to stay in an Orlando vacation home for a combination of reasons — value, location, privacy, amenities and overall comfort and convenience. In a Florida Store Vacation Home, travelers are able to reserve a fully furnished home with multiple bedrooms and bathrooms underneath one roof, rather than reserving multiple hotel rooms. Visitors enjoy their own private, screened-in pools, as well as a full kitchen in-home, and often in-home game rooms, billiard tables, DVD players, game systems, and more. Most Florida Store Vacation Homes are also located within minutes of major Orlando attractions.

What is there to do in a vacation home?
There are amenities available in-home to fit every travelers’ recreational lifestyle. Orlando vacation home visitors boast access to their own private pools, spas, and patios, as well as multiple televisions, barbeque grills, DVD players, and often wireless internet access, stand-up arcade games, billiard and air hockey tables, PlayStation® and Xbox game systems. Each Florida Store vacation home is unique so you can find the perfect Orlando vacation home for you!

What types of homes are available to travelers?
The Florida Store offers fully furnished Orlando vacation homes to travelers and their families close to all of Orlando’s major attractions, including private pool homes, condos, and two-story town homes. Florida Store vacation homes are available from two to seven bedrooms (1,050 – 3,000 square feet.) and up to six bathrooms, all under one roof. Many Florida Store Vacation Homes also come equipped with extra amenities for private recreation in-home, including game rooms with billiard tables, air hockey and such.

Are the homes individually owned?
Nearly all vacation rental homes available in the Orlando area are privately owned. Many Orlando area rental homes are overseen by property management companies, who manage the home rental, maintenance and administration process for individual homeowners and, in some instances, assist in the purchase and sale of homes.

How do I find the right vacation home for me?
The Florida Store has friendly, informed vacation planners that will help you find the perfect Orlando vacation home. They know the area, the homes and can find the Florida Store Vacation Home that is a perfect fit for YOU!

How do I know if a vacation rental company has reliable services and facilities?
Travelers can be assured that members of the above association have made a commitment to uphold the organization’s code of ethics and business practices. This ensures guests are provided a quality lodging experience. Travelers are also encouraged to look for third-party endorsements on the websites of rental management companies, including approval from AAA, as well as membership in industry associations and the Better Business Bureau. Please check out our affiliations and associations in the area – we know we are good at what we do for you and want you to know it too!

How do I make a reservation? Is it secure?
Booking a Florida Store vacation home is a convenient and secure process as we offer both secure phone and Internet reservations systems. Each guest completes a registration form just like checking in at a hotel and this outlines clearly what is expected from both parties.

Do visitors have to stay for long periods of time?
We provide a lot of Orlando vacation homes for Florida residents who come to the Orlando area to visit the local theme parks and shop. To cater for these valued guests, we have reduced our minimum stay to only 2 nights. We also cater to “snowbirds” that travel to sunny Central Florida from the northern US and Canada and stay with us for a month or two at a time.

What is the difference between renting from a rental company and renting directly from a homeowner?
When renting from a rental company such as The Florida Store, guests enjoy additional benefits and services that are not typically offered by single homeowners, including a 24-hour customer service contact, concierge services, housekeeping, partnerships with local vendors, and sometimes the ability to search and reserve a home securely online. If an Orlando vacation home is not managed, the individual homeowner is responsible for the property’s maintenance, upkeep, and the customer service offered to renters, often as an absentee owner from other states or even countries abroad. Rental companies handle all of this for individual homeowners, ensuring consistency and quality in both customer service and the level of accommodations.

If I have questions during my stay, do I have someone I can call for assistance?
The Florida Store Vacation Homes offer an emergency contact that guests can call 24 hours a day, seven days a week for maintenance issues. This contact number is provided to each guest in their check-in packet. We are open Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm and Saturday from 9am to 12pm to answer any questions and assist with guest reservations.

When renting a vacation home, will I receive concierge services, like room service, spa treatments, etc.?
Guests experience all the benefits of a traditional hotel stay with many additional amenities, including a concierge, as well as options for in-home massages, spa treatments, a personal chef to cook meals, pre-arrival grocery delivery services, child care, and more. Simply ask about these services when making your reservation or calling to plan a vacation. The Florida Store also boasts partnerships with local vendors to offer guests discounts on tickets to Orlando attractions, golf courses, as well as special rates on car and equipment rentals, to name a few.

Is a daily housekeeping service available?
While each Florida Store vacation home is thoroughly cleaned and prepared for guests’ arrivals, we do offer mid-stay housekeeping services, upon request, for an additional fee. It is recommended that visitors inquire with their vacation planner for this service when planning a vacation or booking a reservation with The Florida Store Vacation Homes.

How many people can stay in one vacation home?
In compliance with state law, occupancy may not exceed what is posted for each home. Maximum occupancy includes infants and children:

  • Two bedroom sleeps a maximum of 6 people
  • Three bedroom sleeps a maximum of 8 people
  • Four bedroom sleeps a maximum of 10 people
  • Five bedroom sleeps a maximum of 12 people
  • Six bedroom sleeps a maximum of 14 people
  • Seven bedroom sleeps a maximum of 16 people

Economically, how does a vacation rental compare to a hotel stay?
Florida Store vacation homes provide huge cost savings by allowing guests to make just one reservation, rather than multiple, for a group or family. Rates for three-bedroom vacation homes start at just $129 per night, but sleep up to eight travelers versus just one or two. Having a fully equipped kitchen in-home also offers great value to travelers who want to save on the costs associated with dining out for every meal.

What if I need wheelchair accessibility?
The Florida Store Vacation Homes offers wheelchair-accessible accommodations that are approved by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Please inquire prior to your reservation for additional information, accessibility details, recommendations, and specific property amenities.

May I bring my pets?
A variety of Florida Store vacation homes are pet-friendly. We also offer welcome packages for guests’ favorite four-legged friends. A pet deposit of $150 is required for the 1st pet, with a fee of $75 per additional pet, up to 3 pets maximum. Breed and size restrictions apply.

What if I want to stock my vacation home rental with food and snacks?
There are a variety of supermarkets nearby to each vacation rental community for guests who wish to have their favorite snacks and meals on-hand and in-home. The Florida Store vacation homes also offer guests the ability to pre-order groceries packs (welcome packs) to be delivered prior to their arrival.

How do I check-in to my vacation rental once I’ve arrived in Orlando? Is there a designated check-in and check out time?
The Florida Store vacation homes offers a central office close to our Orlando vacation homes for convenient check in, pickup of guests’ keys, information about the area, and more. The check-in office is located at:

Summerbay Publix Plaza
17445 US Highway 192, Suite 13
Clermont, FL 34714

The Florida Store vacation homes also offers pre-arrival check-in, providing information electronically prior to guests’ arrival, including directions to/from the airport and local highways, maps of the area, a key-code for entry to the home, and more. Use our online registration process to begin the Express check-in service.
And yes, consistent with most Orlando area hotels and resorts, The Florida Store Vacation Homes does designate a specific check-in time as 4pm and checkout time as 11am. Early or late arrivals and departures may also be requested.

Will I have Internet access and cable television?
Florida Store vacation homes are furnished with cable television, DVD players and multiple TV sets, and many are equipped with free wireless Internet access. As not all Orlando vacation homes are equipped with internet access, please inquire about this at the vacation planning stage or when reserving your Florida Store vacation home.

How can I get to and from the theme parks and the airport?
All of our Orlando vacation homes are located in residential areas and are not easily accessible by public transportation. It is highly recommended that you have your own transportation while staying in a Florida Store vacation home.
